Immersed in a sea of wave energy keywords, I needed a breath. It was then that I noticed the date. Noble Ox had just turned 10!

When I started my small, some say perfectly formed agency, I didn’t have a five, let alone a ten year plan.

All I knew was that I wanted to see how best I could use my brand marketing and project management skills to help support others and keep the roof over my head. I also wanted to keep things simple and build a reputation on trust and good service.

Noble Ox is and always will be the antidote to marketing consultants. Often the first reaction when working with a new client is their sigh of relief. My role really is to make life easier for them, their colleagues and most importantly their target audiences.

For any business, a good reputation based on excellent credentials is important. For Noble Ox, it’s essential. Ten years in and the majority of our work still comes through referral and recommendation. Just how we like it!

Noble Ox in the beginning

My new business had to have a strong and honest brand. I’d spent time considering the ethos and credentials of my professional approach so needed to make sure this was reflected in the way the company was presented, starting with the brand name itself.

When I need inspiration, the natural world is often my first port of call. Back in 2009, I also looked to the East. It was the Year of the Ox and I found this,

“Those born in the Year of the Ox are traditionally stable, persevering and tolerant individuals with strong wills. They carry out their day to day responsibilities without complaint, knowing they will succeed through hard work and sustained effort rather than short cuts and quick fixes. Pragmatic and down-to-earth, Oxen are trustworthy and reliable.

“2009 will be a year when Oxen can really shine, both personally and professionally.”

The attributes of the Ox representing prosperity through fortitude and hard work struck the right chord as they matched my own professional approach. For me, these traits, amongst others, provided a very solid foundation upon which to build the brand identity.

And now?

It took the time to define and create the Noble Ox brand. Having a strong brand continues to work hard for me and Noble Ox, as all good brands should. It also reassures me that my strengths lie in helping others do the same.
